Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.
When looking at this cluster of words, you may not recognize the significance, or that it comes out to a very particular acronym. If you’re feeling out of the loop, we’re here to bring you back in the target zone. If you look closely the acronym spells out SPECTRE, which is not only the title for the upcoming James Bond production, but also the criminal organization that will be reintroduced in the 2015 film.
If you didn’t catch the epic trailer, here’s an enticing sneak peak.
Now if you’re a James Bond fan, you haven’t seen, or heard about SPECTRE since Diamonds Are Forever back in ’71. This revival of the organization through the 24th James Bond film will reenact Bond’s first encounter with the notorious group led by Christoph Waltz, acting as Franz Oberhauser.
But since we can’t comment on what’s to be in the upcoming movie, let’s take it back to the ninth book in Ian Fleming’s novels, where the organization was first introduced.
Adapted three times since 1961, Thunderball became a hit sensation, selling over 50 thousand copies for its initial release. It took two stolen atomic bombs for the Secret Service to call on Bonds to investigate.
Stay tuned as we’ll all find out if the storyline stays the same since it’s initial release, or if it will it be a newly adapted storyline for Daniel Craig to tackle.
Unless you’re in the U.K. or London, the scheduled release date for the film will be on October 26, 2015. If not, the worldwide release is anticipated to be November 6, 2015.
