Big things come in small packages, or so they say. In this case it’s probably the most appropriate use of the phrase to describe one of the most historical, trademark heroes of the Marvel Universe.
As you know Ant-Man just released to the big screens today and like many of the worlds movie goers who aren’t is into the fight between good and evil, you may fall under the spell of gallivanting into the theaters without knowing who this hero is.
if that’s the case, rest assured that it’s OK. Here’s a little history on the “Ant Man” In 1962 Marvel Comics introduced Dr. Henry ‘Hank’ Pym, a biophysicist who discovered a chemical substance that allowed him to alter his size.
By utilizing what he called the Pym Particles, along with an ant-controlling helmet and a super suit, he easily became a threat to be reckoned with, influencing villains like Egghead and Whirlwind. But Pym wasn’t the only person to take up the Ant-Man legacy. Scott Lang, Eric O’Grady and Chris McCarthy all suited up with a legion of ants, joining teams like the Avengers and even S.H.I.E.L.D. over the years. Now you might not think an ant is anything to be afraid of, but we bet you wouldn’t be willing to step into a giant anthill!
And if you remember the Avengers movie, Age of Ultron, Pym was who created that nearly indestructible metallic suit.
So that’s our quick take of our half-inch friend who controls ants. And although they say quality is better than quantity, Ant-Man is indefinitely a challenge to that theory.
