Demna Gvasalia didn’t disappoint for his first Balenciaga runway show. His menswear debut was all about extreme volumes. The garments showed huge technical design and architecture. Much like his pieces from Vetements, the collection showed the same over-sized and playful silhouettes. There are two extremes in the collection, extremely over-sized and boxy, then tailored and tight.
The extra-wide blazers and bombers are paired with tailored shorts and pants. Most of the pieces within the collection can’t be worn in any normal setting, but the accessories like wallets chains and tote bags seem practical. Although it is a spring collection, the color palate stayed dark and heavy.
