Could lace be the new normal? As we can see from Burberry’s Creative Director, Christopher Bailey, it just might be. Burberry’s new Spring Summer 2016 Collection has brought a new masculine twist on lace. British fashion has always been refined and has shown intensity in their creativity, always trying to push the envelope. But for Burberry’s new spring summer 2016 collection, we see a softer and slightly more high class take on classic fashion.
Lace was all the rage in this show and was appropriately dubbed “Straight Laced.” As the first model walked down the runway, we were introduced to a perfectly tailored full lace trench coat. We’re assuming it’s a foreshadow of what we can expect for the rest of the collection. Suits were given a feminine spirit by pairing them with lace shirts and ties. The entire collection balanced flawlessly by playing off the feminine aspects with masculine colors of neutrals and red, blue and green tones. The silhouettes were all kept streamlined and slim fit, which is Burberry’s new tailored design, “The Chelsea.”
It is a precise mixture of modern pieces and vintage inspired British culture that make this collection a stand out.
