It’s an exciting time in men’s fashion as designers help push boundaries and moved men’s fashion further ahead.
Every year The Council of Fashion Designers of America rewards designers for their contributions to the fashion industry and their capability to further inspire. The CFDA is a non-profit organization that mentors and funds American designers and has been influencing fashion for over 40 years.
Backed by Vogue, the winner of the CFDA Fashion Awards is mentored from a fellow top designer and receives $300,000 to further purse their creativity and design. This year the list of Menswear nominees for Designer of the Year are a group of talented and groundbreaking designers. Each with their own unique view and take on men’s fashion.
This fashion mogul is truly an inspiration to everyone in and outside the industry. Before he introduced the world to his own label, he was a major influence for fashion houses all around the world working as creative director of both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Over his 10 year span with both companies, he successfully turned them into one of the most profitable luxury brands in the world. Both his Tom Ford fashion label and sunglass line have become extremely profitable and highly respected around the world. Creating trends and constantly evolving is something this man will forever do.
Since their start in 2008, Public School has been changing the face of men’s fashion. Led by Dao Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, the New York based brand has been weaving luxury and street wear to create a style all their own. They are the perfect example of new talent reinventing the industry.
Rag & Bone
Designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville have redefined the meaning of urban style. Rag and Bone has become one of the most sought after ready to-wear brands. The mix between New York street style and luxury taste have made this unique label an instant success.
Founded in New York, the Tim Coppens brand is a stand-alone collection redefining street wear and athletic wear. Coppens had a long time career working in the athletic wear division of fashion. He held a long time position at Adidas where he honed his craft. This innovative designer combines sophistication and sportswear to create a collection true to his vision.
His constant need to push the envelope of men’s fashion has turned Browne into a leader in men’s fashion. Thom’s ability to produce handmade pieces in both ready-to-wear and tailored suits have set him apart. His eye for detail makes every piece in his collections special.
With such a diverse group of designers, each pushing men’s fashion further ahead, it’s going to be exciting to see who receives this year’s coveted CFDA award.
