It was another mind-blowing night in Las Vegas at Cirque du Soleil’s, “Zarkana”. Written and directed by François Girard, Zarkana’s production does not disappoint. The stage was filled with trapeze artists, awe-inspiring attractions, amazing digital effects, eye popping art and epic high flying acrobatics.
Of all the Cirque shows, Zarkana has a familiar, old-school circus act feel, that’s daringly futuristic with mind warping sets, all wrapped in modern, Baroque-esque fashion by costume designer Alan Hranitelj. And of course there was the amusing sideshow that we’ve come to expect and enjoy (or not) with the jostling clowns and the in-between set antics.
What’s alluring about Cirque du Soleil shows is the accentuation of the human body’s ability to create excitement from absolute physical might and flawlessly executed moves that are sure to bring about a sense of awe.
In short, the Cirque Du Soleil shows have taken circus as a genre to a whole different level and Zarkana has proven an exciting addition to the ongoing collection.
