A couple of weeks ago, we shared with you one of the most WOW-worthy uses of 3D-printing technology we have come across. We were worried at first when Adidas Futurecraft broke the mold with its announcement of 3D printed performance footwear, but to everyone’s surprise they came out amazing and we’re still buzzing over it. And they didn’t stop there with their most recent unveiling of the Adidas Futurecraft Leather.

Designers, Alexander Taylor and Joachim de Callatay, collaborated together to create the Adidas Futurecraft Leather, which combines high-tech manufacturing and traditional materials to form a high-quality, completely seamless upper sole, that gives the utmost support and comfort through everyday wear. The design calls for one single piece of material that allows tailors to craft the shoe more precisely than ever, allowing the most comfortable and lightweight fit that Adidas has ever offered.
The exclusive collection kicks off with none other than the classic, Adidas Originals Superstar. Adidas Creative Director, Paul Gaudio, shared, “Futurecraft Leather is all about creating something new and unique, out of something familiar. The obsession to create, and a deep emotional relationship with leather, is what unites adidas, Alexander and Joachim. The digitally automated milling process allows us to stretch the limits of our craft, bringing new form and function to an iconic material. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 45th birthday of the Superstar.”
We do love the classics, and can’t to see what else is in the works. Be on the lookout for more Adidas Futurecraft releases into the new year.
