J.W. Anderson is taking inspiration from his own childhood memories for his Spring/Summer 2017 menswear collection. He is taking us on a whimsical journey with the help of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Le Petit Prince. The book and the cover art both played a huge role in fulling his inspiration. As the models walk down the runway wearing beaded crowns, we are introduced to the high fashion prince.
Anderson said the show was “not about being nostalgic, it’s about being childlike,” and that’s just what we saw. The models were styled as if they were playing dress up with their parent’s clothes. T-shirt dresses were paired with bomber jackets and graphic sweaters, keeping in trend with androgyny. It was a cheerful mixture of ideal masculine pieces and colorful graphics.
