Since the California Gold Rush in the 40’s, many have found bits and pieces of gold nuggets throughout the grounds of California. Nonetheless, it’s been decades since anyone came across a massive 6.07 pound gold nugget. The large nugget was found in Butte County, north of California, where one of the biggest golden chunk was found back in 1859. The owner of the nugget, who wanted to remain unidentified, found the nugget back in July at Butte County mountains, initially thinking that the piece of treasure was trash. However, little did he know that he hit a jackpot. With a hefty price tag of $350,000, this nugget will be auctioned at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show on Thursday at Fort Mason.
