The English Seaside is known for adorning their beaches with colorful huts. Architecture group, ECE, put a spin on the English staple and created a mirrored beach hut on Worthing Beach in South England.
With the help of Mark Sephton from the Creative Forager agency, they were able to design and assemble the hut in six weeks. It is laser-cut mirrored, acrylic sheets placed on wood panels.
The idea behind the installation of the hut was to create something that the public can enjoy. And they nailed that idea, because as soon as the hut went up on an early 4 am Saturday morning, beach goers flocked to the beautiful work of art. The hut creates unique reflections from the sea and surrounding sandy area and makes for great selfie opportunities. The mirror hut quickly sparked a buzz around social media and news outlets, and ECE is considering making the mirror hut a permanent installation for everyone to enjoy year round.
