This somewhat understated yet still striking sneaker, inspired by Phoenix Suns basketball player Charles Barkley, returns to the shelves today. The Nike Air Max CB34 will be released in the “Suns” color-way, celebrating the time the undisputed best little big man played over in Phoenix.

We have only seen these sneakers drop twice before from Nike. The original release was in 1996, and later released again in 2011. So how else do you celebrate Barkley’s birthday, well with another release of course. Most of the shoes in the Barkley series are a bit divisive, with claw and paw print-esque stitching calling a lot of attention to your feet. Much like Deion Sanders and the Zoom DT’s that originally released around the same time, these are a staple for any sneaker head.
Although certainly eye catching, the claw makeup on this shoe is a little less dominate than others, such as with the strap version of the CB34, the shoe benefits more from the subtle label embossed on the side of the shoes and the purple and orange accents on the tongue and swoosh.
Keep an eye out for these, as they drop today for a simple $160.
